Our Wedding in Rhodes!
Well, where do I begin?
From start to finish Beverley has been amazing and has made the whole wedding planning process a complete breeze. A wedding during a worldwide pandemic is probably one of the most unforeseen and stressful things that could happen, however, Bev made sure to keep me reassured throughout and answered any questions the best she could.
The day itself was the BEST DAY EVER. I know everyone always says this about their wedding day but I think even our guests would say it was one of the best days ever too!
We started with the wonderful Carly who arrived early in order to complete four bridesmaids’ hair, mother of the bride and bridal hair. I showed her a couple of photos and she cracked on with no problems at all, she recreated the exact look I had asked for. Carly was so much fun, chatty and made everyone feel relaxed! Maria then turned up to do my mum’s makeup and my makeup, I’d already had a trial so knew I loved her makeup style but the makeup on the day was even better than the trial.
The photographer and videographer then turned up and started taking photos of all the small details that made our day special. They were very professional and knew exactly which shots to get. The photos are amazing, we love them all so much we upgraded to get the full usb of images. Awaiting the video but I have no doubt it will be fantastic.
Bev then arrived with our flowers, after little more than a mood board sent to her months ago she got them absolutely spot on. They all looked beautiful and tied in perfectly with the flowers at our venues!
Bev ordered taxis for our bridesmaids and mother of the bride and me and my Dad then got in the beetle (driven by Bev herself) to St Paul’s Bay. When we arrived she sounded the horn several times so everyone knew we were arriving- my dad and I felt like celebrities!
As we were the first couple to get married at St Paul’s Chapel since the ban was lifted, we were kindly gifted a violinist who played all the way down the hill and then we I walked down the aisle. We were also gifted a tree, planted in our name, which was a lovely touch.
The wedding ceremony itself was absolutely perfect, short and sweet! One thing I would say is consider getting married as late as possible, the heat was almost unbearable, our poor guests were sweltering. The only saving grace were the fans I bought for guests to use during the ceremony. After the ceremony everyone was very efficient at getting photos/videos done quickly in order to move our guests out of the sun and to cool down.
We then opted for the boat ride to our reception venue (Skala). During the walk to the boat what felt like the entire beach full of people were clapping and cheering which made such a nice atmosphere as we stepped onboard. On the boat we all had a Pimms and began to cool down! Would 100% recommend the boat ride, the views were beautiful and our guests absolutely loved it.
Skala. Our reception venue was the beach side restaurant Skala. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate our marriage. It was decorated beautiful by Bev and her team with fairy lights etc, again she got it spot on from images I’d sent. The food was amazing and so much of it! We went for the BBQ menu which came with a range of salads, potatoes, pitta and rice. So delicious. We also opted for the drinks package with wine and beer which was worth its weight in gold- our guests were more than merry by the end of the evening. The staff were so friendly and helpful. One heads up is to make sure all guests bring some flat shoes, the walk back up to the taxi rank is not short and is quite an incline!
The DJ was amazing, we gave him an extensive list of songs we liked and he then used his expertise and judgement as to what to play and when. He even got all our guests up to do some Greek dancing- it went very badly as a group of tipsy Brits are not great at learning dance routines!
Overall we honestly could not have wished for a more perfect day. After all the worry of whether or not it would happen we feel so grateful to every single person who helped make it the best day ever.
